At Physique we have over 50 years experience of rehabilitation and we are often asked what our our rehabilitation conceps are based on.
Back in the early 1970's the owner and founder Pete, was exposed to concepts and exercise based on functional movement, with vetrans who returned from WW2.
He witnessed people being coached to walk, to become stronger, physically and mentally on a daily basis. Many learned to walk again and returned to work using techniques and exercises that were developed from clinical research carried out at the Rohamption Institute, QM2 hospital.
We use these same concepts today, making people more active and even walking following major injury or ilness, including people who have suffered strokes, brain injuries and other neurological conditions.
Just like Zoe pictured here, taking her first steps after many years in a wheelchair.

We started rehabilitating people after hearing stories and meeting people who had been given little or no hope of improvement.
Sound familiar?
We knew through lived experience and clinical research that most people will recover and improve post illness, injury or trauma.
So we set out to make a difference, by utalising our knowledge and skills to develope unique training conceps and methods designed to help people recover.
We don't mess about with exercises like bird dogs or threading the needle, or throwing bosu balls at you.
We get you walking, we get you moving again. We utalise a hands on approach to ensure that we help you to reach your goals by using functional movement, and developing strength to help you achieve results.
Our process includes carrying out a comprehensive assessment, which outlines how you move, your current abilities and limitations.
We do this in our purpose designed facility or at your home, enabling us to design a personalised rehabilitation program, optimising your recovery, building strength for every day tasks, supporting your long term goals.
Our functional movement assessment includes assessing, the 7 functional movement patterns, walking (Gait), pushing, pulling, squating and hinge (bending from the waiste).
We mimic these movement patterns with our exercises, often using machines that are specifically designed to control range of motion and load, allowing gradual progression and minimising the risk of hyper extension or injury. This is critical when working with people who have hyper mobility and when you need that extra assistance or support, especially when recovering from an injury or chronic ilness.
Our rehabilitation programes are designed to produce results, no fads, no weird exercises, just clinical based exercises, based on time tested techniques, which have helped people worldwide.
Our aim is to get you back to where you were prior to your injury or ilness - Thats our version of rehab and our guarentee.
